Simpler Days - Zeyda Romero

A large, divided window with white frames fills most of the frame. The window is sectioned into three columns and six rows of panes. Through the window, you can see a mature tree with a thick trunk silhouetted against a pale blue sky. The tree's leaves and branches create a natural canopy across the upper portion of the window view. In the lower portion, you can see other trees in the background with autumn-colored foliage. In the foreground, on the indoor windowsill, there's a houseplant with glossy green leaves that appears to be climbing or trailing. The interior walls around the window appear to be painted white.

A Fresno State graduate with a BA in English, Zeyda is completing her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Palo Alto University this spring. Her extensive background in writing includes six years as a writing tutor, with four years at the Fresno State Writing Center. Her creative work, spanning poetry, photography, and art, has been featured in HAIS and CWAA publications.
